Dr Malgorzata (Gosia) Brykczynska

PHD, RN, OCV

Writer, Translater and Former Lecturer

Gosia is the daughter of Polish political refugees who were granted asylum in the UK at the conclusion of World War II. As a teenager she volunteered at Cavendish to care for the residents at Sue Ryder’s Home.

She subsequently obtained a degree in nursing from Columbia University, in New York City, specialising in paediatric oncology nursing. Since 1985 she has been involved in the education of nurses in the UK. More recently she has worked as an international officer for the Royal College of Nursing. Gosia holds a doctorate from Heythrop College - London University in pastoral theology and philosophy. Over recent years Gosia has internationally championed the cause of Blessed Hanna Chrzanowska who was a founder member of CICIAMS and the Polish Association of Catholic Nurses. I am currently working as a Senior Sister in Trauma and Orthopaedics at Croydon University Hospital. I qualified with a diploma in General Nursing from the University Teaching Hospital School of Nursing in Lusaka, Zambia and did a bachelors degree in Nursing Science, qualifying as a Nurse Educator and Health Services Manager from the University of South Africa.

Janet  lives in Croydon with her family and is currently a practitioner member of Croydon Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults Multiagency Board.
