The Association of Catholic Nurses (formerly Catholic Nurses Guild) founded 1897 is a spiritual support and friendship group open to Catholic nurses. Members come from a range of nursing backgrounds currently including practising and retired nurses ,health visitors , midwives ,managers, nursing directors , lecturers,students and health care assistants .The Association works with the Healthcare Reference Group of the Bishops Conference of England &Wales , CICIAMS the International Catholic Committee of Nurses and Medical-Social (Healthcare) Assistants and other Catholic and non Catholic organizations on contemporay Christian ethical debates and concerns relevant to Catholics in professional nursing practice .The Association of Catholic Nurses is also a registered stakeholder of NICE the NHS National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence with involvement on a range of health issues including end of life care , pain management, sexual health and safeguarding children/child protection.
