Currently we have about 80 members. We are in the process of providing our brochure with information to all of the parishes.
United and strengthened through the sacraments and prayer, we minister to continue the healing mission of Christ. Our mission to Catholic nurses and student nurses is:
* Provide support in their individual fields of endeavor with special concern for their spiritual health.
* Empower them to respond in faith and with justice, compassion; and reverence for life, ensuring care of all persons, especially the aged and unborn.
* Give them an opportunity to gather, support and educate each other both spiritually and professionally.
* Educates about bioethical issues of concern to Catholic nurses and student nurses.
* Encourage them to bring the light and truth of catholic bioethics to their families, friends, co-workers and the community.
* Liaison, promote and support the organizations that encourage a Culture of Life.
* Provide a scholarship funding to Catholic nursing students.
Membership Provides:
1. Copy of the "Charter for Healthcare Workers" from the Pontifical Council.
2. Monthly mailing of "Ethics and Medics" from the Catholic Bioethics Center.
3.Periodic newsletter providing information on upcoming events and general information.
4.Special invitation to our major events each year including Eucharistic Celebrations.
5.Participation in programs with especially selected speakers.
6.Yearly scholarship to a Catholic Nursing Student from the Joliet Diocese.
7.The support of a group united in faith and prayer.
We recently had a Luncheon Silent Auction on September 10, 2006 and awarded a $500.00 Scholarship to Jeanna Altosino. Our speaker, Mary Bliss, discussed the catholic ethics of advanced directives and durable power of attorney. We were able to provide $2,100.00 to the Birthright Centers in the Joliet Diocese. Our next event will start with a Eucharistic Celebration followed by Karen Egenes RN, PhD discussing her finding on the Aids epidemic in Africa. Brunch will follow.

Founded in 1954 by Cardinal Stritch to provide a support structure for the Catholic nurse and to help in nurturing the growth of their spiritual faith. In May 2004 they had a 50th Golden Anniversary Dinner in which they reviewed the past 50 years and gave a tribute to the 1st president, Marie Costello.
Membership Provides:
* Special invitation to three major events each year...2 spiritual reinforcement events, in Lent and Advent, and 1 ethics support event in the Fall. * Periodic newsletter providing information on theses and other support events organized throughout the year. * A mass offered for current and deceased members on the first Saturday of each month. * The support of a group united in prayer by remembering each other in their daily intentions. * A yearly scholarship to a nursing student from the Archdiocese.
On April 8, 2006 they met at Sacred Heart Church to celebrate Mass and spiritual reflection followed by a luncheon. On May 7, 2006 they met at Our Lady of Sorrows Basillica for celebration of the Eucharist and presented their scholarship winner followed by a luncheon. In the past they have also sponsored food drives to proved food and toiletries to The Franciscan Outreach Mission in Chicago. They have about 150 members.

They wish to support the spiritual health of all members and to promote the ethical principles of the Catholic Faith. They provide an opportunity to gather for educational offerings and to include the Liturgy as a vital source of the Christian spirit in all eneavors of the Council.
They have about 80 members. Recently they provided a donations for a Rwanda War victim, Tsunami aid through Catholic Relief Services, School Supplies to Lake Shore Catholic Academy and for Breast cancer. Their recent events include a speaker, Daniel McConchie MA on "Stem Cell and Cloning Research and the Ethical Significance" They have had Advent and Lenten Mornings of Recollection at Marytown in Libertyville, Illinois.
